Test the blogging waters!

March 21st, 2006

Okay, first I am very proud of you if you are reading this at all! It means that you had the courage to actually come to this blog and look around! I am so sorry I cannot attend the meeting today, but I am on my way to not so sunny FLoriday for the Florida EdTech Conference where I plan to learn new and more devious ways to harrass you all. LOLĀ

In the instructions I left, I gave you information on how to log in with the only login we have at present – the administrative login. Don’t let that scare you, though. Go ahead and explore… Try adding a comment or even creating a new post (Hint: click on Site Admin in right column to begin adding a new post.) This is our little corner of blogspace and you are not going to mess anything up – well, not permanently at least! At our next meeting, you will all become proud owners of your very own blog – not that you ever have to write anything there, but it is the only way you can be a member of THIS blog group… did you really think I would let you all continue to be Site Administrator?!?

I have just played around a bit and added some information so that you can get a feel for what a blogspace is. One other space I encourage you to explore are the Blogrolls on the righthand side, particularly Doug Johnson’s. If you are familiar with Doug Johnson’s work, you know that he is really into some good stuff. When you go to HIS blog, you will find links to blogs that he likes to visit. You can spend fascinating hours wandering around from blog to blog “listening” to conversations about what is happening in our world of education!

Once you have experienced this medium, I think you will begin to see how it can be very helpful to us for professional development and sharing.

Now one last favor… If someone will write up a few brief comments/summary of your meeting, I will post it in our blog when I return. Of course, if you are very brave, you will post it yourself!

I will miss all the stimulating conversation!

From March 17 meeting…

Two recommendations came from today’s book study:

1) To set book study dates for the entire year for 06-07 and put them on a calender, as soon as possible.

2) To recommend the book, The Differentiated Classroom: Responding to the Needs of All Learners as the foundational book for the district and schools for differentiated instruction. This book would be a great first book for studies on DI. It sets the stage for further study.
